Job summary

Qualifications

  • Contribute to the implementation of the Competition Commission’s Strategic Plan.
  • Act as a representative of the Commission when communicating with stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

The main responsibilities of the incumbent will, inter alia, include :

  • Assist in conducting investigations regarding possible contraventions of the Act and relevant advocacy activities.
  • Assist in conducting research and policy analysis of the regulatory landscape and make recommendations.
  • Assist in conducting advocacy research and investigations to support the Competition Commission’s objectives.
  • Act as a representative of the Commission within the framework of the Competition Act when communicating with business, consumers, employer / employee representatives and other government agencies.
  • Contribute to the implementation of the Competition Commission’s Strategic Plan, Annual Performance Plan and the Division’s Business Plan.
  • Contribute to the efficient administration of the Division through compliance of protocols, procedures and systems, including knowledge management.

Requirements

We are looking for a dynamic, hardworking and a committed individual who meets the following requirements :

  • A completed LLB or Honours Degree in Economics or Social Sciences.
  • A Masters Degree in Economics, Law or Social Sciences added advantage
  • At least 3 - 4 years’ experience in a competition, public policy or legislative environment.
  • Ability to conduct research and undertake complex investigations within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience in information gathering and analysis.

Other considerations :

  • Practical work exposure to area of expertise, such as sector regulation or competition law or economics, will be an added advantage.
