Job summary

Instant Impact partners with a leading global legal services provider to appoint an Analyst in Cape Town. The role focuses on delivering high-quality reporting, data insights and scalable solutions within a growing team.

You will own end-to-end reporting, from data extraction and cleansing to building robust Power BI dashboards and data models using DAX, Power Query and SQL on large datasets. Collaboration with stakeholders and governance across data pipelines are essential.

Qualifications

• Strong experience building Power BI reports, dashboards and datasets using DAX, Power Query and data modelling.

Responsibilities

• Produce and deliver management information and performance reporting to support reporting cycles.
• Own data extraction, cleansing, validation, reconciliation and QA to ensure accuracy.
• Design, develop and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, datasets and data models using DAX and Power Query.
• Use SQL to query, join, aggregate and optimise data from sources with large datasets.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, define KPIs and translate needs into practical solutions.
• Contribute to data governance, documentation, controls and workflow automation.
• Build and support reporting solutions using Fabric environments including Fabric workspaces, Lakehouse, OneLake and pipelines.
• Support secure, governed delivery via workspace permissions and deployment pipelines.

We are currently representing a leading global legal services provider in the appointment of an Analyst, based in Cape Town, as part of a period of continued growth and investment in their international operations.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Analyst to play a key role in delivering high-quality reporting, insight and data solutions within a newly established team with a high growth trajectory.

Responsibilities

• Produce and deliver management information and performance reporting to support reporting cycles
• Take ownership of data extraction, cleansing, validation, reconciliation and quality assurance activity to ensure reporting outputs are accurate, reliable and trusted by delivery and management teams
• Design, develop and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, datasets and data models, using DAX and Power Query to create robust, reusable and sustainable reporting solutions
• Use SQL to query, join, aggregate and optimise data from relevant sources, working confidently with large datasets and complex analytical requirements
• Work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, investigate business questions, define KPIs and translate reporting needs into clear, practical solutions
• Contribute to data governance, documentation, controls and workflow improvement including process automation
• Build and support reporting solutions using Microsoft Fabric environments including Fabric workspaces, Lakehouse, OneLake, semantic models, data pipelines, Dataflows Gen2 and Power BI reports from Fabric datasets
• Support secure, governed and scalable delivery through workspace permissions, deployment pipelines, performance monitoring and end-to-end solution design

Requirements

• Strong experience developing and maintaining Power BI reports, dashboards and datasets, with a solid understanding of DAX, Power Query and data modelling principles
• Experience working with modern data platforms such as Microsoft Fabric including semantic models, data pipelines and governed reporting environments
• Ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable, sustainable reporting and analytical solutions
• Strong understanding of data governance, standards and best practices, with a focus on quality, performance and usability
• Highly organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to deliver accurate outputs to tight deadlines
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a geographically dispersed team
• Demonstrates ownership, professionalism and a pragmatic, can-do approach aligned to the firm\'s values
