Job summary

A banking solutions provider in Durban seeks a Compliance Officer to manage customer account reviews and ensure adherence to regulations. The role involves handling high and medium risk accounts, preparing due diligence reports, and maintaining key stakeholder relationships. Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of experience in a compliance/regulatory position in a banking environment.
  • In-depth understanding of FIC Act Regulations and other applicable legislation impacting banks.
  • 5+ years of banking experience specializing in credit.

Job description

Reviewing High Medium and Low risk accounts and completion of targets while ensuring compliance to local laws rules and regulations and policies directives and guidance.

Manage the workflow of the renewal of high-risk accounts for Branches.

Manage the workflow of new high-risk accounts for Branches.

Review of medium and lower risk accounts as part of the Banks internal policy of reviewing such accounts (REKYC).

Co-ordinate and maintain appropriate working relationship with all key stakeholders in the bank directly related to customer accounts i.e. Branch Managers Relationship Managers and Compliance.

Prepared Enhance Due Diligence and Customer Due Diligence Reports.

Conduct review and EDD for PEP accounts.

Review validity of documents for clients for CDD and EDD Reports.

Communicate with compliance on progress on CDD and EDD.

Deal with matters arising from CDD and EDD.

Requirements
  • 1-3 years experience in a compliance / regulatory position in a banking environment
  • LLB qualification / or similar and other compliance related courses / qualifications
  • In-depth understanding and knowledge of FIC Act Regulations Directives etc and other applicable legislation impacting Banks
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong knowledge of industry protocols and best practices
Required Skills
  • Relevant Bachelors Degree (BCom BCom Honours in Banking etc). - Minimum of 5 years banking experience specialising in credit. - Ensure all activities are completed within timescales and with high degree of accuracy whilst providing excellent service and adhering to all appropriate processes and procedures. - Building and maintaining positive client relationships.
