Job summary

Fidelity Services Group in Malmesbury is seeking an Assistant Technician to support Installations Technicians in cabling alarm systems, drilling and connecting detectors and the panel. You will power-up and walk-test the system, working independently on cabling for alarm, Intercom, CCTV & Access Control systems.

The role requires PSIRA Grade C, Grade 12, and at least 1 year experience as a Wireman; practical electrical knowledge is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Must have PSIRA Grade C registration.
• 1 year experience as a Wireman or similar role is required.
• Practical electrical/electronic knowledge is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist Installations Technician with alarm and security equipment installations.
• Remove old equipment from client premises as needed.
• Run new cables, drill holes, mount detectors and panels, and assist with cabling.
• Inform technician of shortfalls or limitations of equipment and tools.
• Assist with user handover and post-installation testing.
• Clean vehicles and premises after installations.

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

To assist the Installations Technician with installing of cabling of an alarm system, drilling and be able to connect detectors and the panel. Be able to power-up and walk-test the system. A Technical Assistant at this level is suitably qualified and experienced (to the Company’s standards) to install the cabling of an alarm system as well as Intercom, CCTV & Access Control systems, do drilling on his own, connect detectors and the alarm control panel and also to power-up and walk-test the alarm system without the help of a technician present.

DUTIES

• Assist technician with installations of alarm and security equipment
• Assist technician by removing old equipment from clients premises
• Assist by running new cables, applying glue, drill holes, mount detectors, panels, contacts, lights, etc
• Inform technician of any shortfalls or limitations of the equipment and tools
• Inform technician of cabling required for an installation
• Assist technician with user functions and be able to do a handover
• Clean vehicles and premises after an installation
