Job description

We are growing! TNM Aviation is recruiting for an Aircraft Trimmer.

The Aircraft Trimmer role plays a critical role in TNM Aviation operations. This position involves a high level of communication and teamwork amongst staff and management. The Aircraft Trimmer provides exceptional technical capability for the delivery of high-quality aircraft interior and safety equipment refurbishments. TNM Aviation is located at Lanseria International Airport.

Responsibilities
  1. Material Selection
    • Use knowledge of various upholstery materials and leathers.
    • Choose material for aircraft upholstery and other fittings.
    • Consider durability, style and design specifications.
  2. Cutting and fitting
    • Measure material for upholstery.
    • Mark upholstery materials as per project specifications.
    • Cut to fit specific patterns.
    • Use / create templates or sketches for future use.
    • Fit to upholstery frames and/or structures.
    • Use various cutting tools and equipment.
    • Undertake quality assessment after cutting.
  3. Sewing and Stitching
    • Utilize various sewing techniques.
    • Utilize hand stitching as and when required.
    • Maintain sewing equipment.
    • Ensure tools work optimally.
    • Identify, correct and prevent defects.
  4. Restoration and repairs
    • Restore damaged aircraft upholstery and equipment.
    • Inspect and test finished goods to ensure quality and durability.
    • Meet project deadlines.
    • Meet project quality standards.
  5. Installation
    • Ensure compliance with industry standards.
    • Minimize waste (material and time).
    • Communicate regularly with project team.
Qualifications

Relevant technical qualification / certification (suitably qualified as articulated by the Employment Equity Act).

Experience

5 years’ experience in the aviation / upholstery industry.
