Our client is looking for an Aircraft Simulator Technician. They are based in the East Rand close to the Airport and ideally require the successful applicant to start in January 2026.
Responsibilities
- Perform Preventive Maintenance (PM) tasks on the simulators and related systems.
- Troubleshoot and correct problems on the simulators and related systems.
- Utilize Maintenance Management System to record and track maintenance activities.
- Complete all designated training activities.
- Actively pursue continued professional growth and training.
- Perform pre-flight on all simulators.
- Perform visual alignments.
- Run QTGs (Qualification Test Guide).
- Perform refurbishment, modifications, design changes, and software enhancements.
- Perform software changes to correct problems on the simulators and associated simulator systems.
- Comply with Regulatory Quality Management System.
- Provide customer service support and address customer needs in a timely manner.
- Perform logistics duties, including parts received, repair, and testing/validation.
- Perform housekeeping functions to maintain the simulators as required.
- Perform administrative tasks as required.
- Perform tasks to support the technical services group as required.
- Flexibility to work the required shifts.
Qualifications
- Experience with Automation Systems, including PLC programming.
- Knowledge in Electrical Systems, including troubleshooting and repairs
- Mechanical Skills for maintaining and repairing simulator hardware
- Computer Skills, including familiarity with operating systems and software related to automation systems (Linux/Unix is a plus)
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication skills
- Relevant certifications or diplomas in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related fields
- Experience in the aviation industry is a plus
Experience Required
At least 5 years on industrial automation maintenance experience, including:
- Network systems
- Computers
- Operational systems (Windows, Linux/Unix)
- Electrical Systems (Circuit breaks, Motors, contactors…)
- Electronic systems (sensors, relays, actuators…)
- Electronic troubleshooting to component level
- Hydraulic systems (position sensors, servo valves, load cells, actuators, pumps…)
