Placements24 is recruiting an AI Platform Engineer to design, deploy, and maintain scalable AI infrastructure in Nelspruit. The role focuses on enabling data scientists and engineers to develop and deploy AI/ML solutions with robust, secure platforms.

You will work across cloud environments, container orchestration, and IaC to ensure reliable pipelines, storage, and model training while collaborating with AI teams on infrastructure needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of infrastructure engineering, cloud computing, or site reliability experience.
• Strong experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and core services.
• Proficiency with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and monitoring tools.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled AI Platform Engineer to join their innovative team in Nelspruit , focusing on building and managing the underlying infrastructure for their advanced AI and Emerging Technologies initiatives. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable, reliable, and efficient platforms that support the entire AI/ML lifecycle. This role is critical for enabling our data scientists and engineers to develop and deploy cutting-edge AI solutions. You will work within a dynamic environment, contributing to the technological backbone of groundbreaking projects in Mpumalanga .

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage scalable cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP) for AI/ML workloads.
• Build and maintain robust platforms for data storage, processing, and model training.
• Implement and manage container orchestration systems (Kubernetes) for AI applications.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and management using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
• Monitor platform performance, availability, and security, implementing optimizations and fixes as needed.
• Collaborate with AI/ML engineers and researchers to understand their infrastructure needs and provide solutions.
