We are seeking an experienced AI Ethics Lead to join our innovative, fully remote team. This critical role will involve shaping and implementing our company-wide AI ethics strategy, ensuring that our AI technologies are developed and deployed in a manner that is fair, transparent, accountable, and beneficial to society. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, advise on ethical considerations, and drive initiatives that foster trust and mitigate risks associated with AI. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, refine, and implement a comprehensive AI ethics framework and governance policies across the organization.
• Lead ethical impact assessments and risk analyses for AI products and services.
• Provide expert guidance to product, engineering, legal, and policy teams on AI ethics principles, fairness, bias mitigation, and transparency.
• Stay abreast of evolving global regulations, industry standards, and best practices in AI ethics and responsible innovation.
• Design and deliver training programs to educate employees on AI ethics and responsible AI development.
• Facilitate cross-functional discussions and decision-making on complex ethical dilemmas arising from AI applications.
• Collaborate with external stakeholders, including academia, civil society, and policymakers, on AI ethics initiatives.
• Champion a culture of ethical awareness and accountability in AI development and deployment.
• Monitor and report on the ethical performance of AI systems.
• Conduct research into emerging ethical challenges and propose proactive solutions.

Requirements

• Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Ethics, Law, Public Policy, Philosophy, Computer Science with a specialization in AI Ethics, or a related field.
• Significant experience (7+ years) in AI ethics, responsible AI, or technology governance, with demonstrated leadership capabilities.
• Deep understanding of AI technologies, machine learning principles, and their societal implications.
• Proven ability to develop and implement ethical frameworks, policies, and guidelines.
• Expertise in concepts of fairness, accountability, transparency, bias, privacy, and security in AI.
• Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and complex problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging diverse audiences.
• Experience working effectively in a remote, collaborative team environment.
• Familiarity with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, POPIA) is highly desirable.
• Experience in stakeholder engagement and advocacy.
