Placements24 is seeking an AI Ethics and Governance Lead in Randburg to establish responsible AI practices across the organization. You will develop governance frameworks, conduct risk assessments, and guide teams on ethical AI deployment within emerging technologies, ensuring fairness, accountability and transparency.

You will work closely with leadership to monitor regulations, educate staff, and drive responsible AI adoption while building trust in the Gauteng region.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in law, ethics, policy, CS or related field.
• Minimum of 6 years experience in AI ethics, governance, risk, or compliance.
• Experience developing policy frameworks in corporate or regulatory settings.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated AI Ethics and Governance Lead to establish and manage responsible AI practices within their organization, based in Randburg. This pivotal role will ensure that all AI initiatives adhere to ethical standards, regulatory requirements, and principles of fairness, accountability, and transparency. You will be responsible for developing governance frameworks, conducting risk assessments, and guiding teams on ethical AI deployment in the context of AI and Emerging Technologies. This is a critical position for an individual passionate about building trust and ensuring the responsible use of AI in the Gauteng region.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive AI governance framework, policies, and procedures.
• Lead ethical impact assessments and bias audits for AI systems, identifying and mitigating potential risks.
• Advise AI development teams, product managers, and leadership on ethical considerations and best practices.
• Monitor regulatory changes and industry standards related to AI ethics and ensure organizational compliance.
• Develop training programs to educate employees on responsible AI development and use.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for all AI ethics and governance-related inquiries internally and externally.

Requirements

• Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Law, Ethics, Policy, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in AI ethics, governance, risk management, or compliance.
• Strong understanding of AI/ML technologies, their societal implications, and potential ethical challenges.
• Experience in developing and implementing policy frameworks in a corporate or regulatory environment.
