About the Role

Our client, a prominent agricultural consultancy firm, is seeking a skilled Agricultural Engineer with specialized expertise in irrigation systems to join their growing team in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal . This role is crucial for supporting agricultural clients in optimizing water use efficiency and implementing advanced irrigation solutions tailored to the region's unique climate and soil conditions. You will be involved in the design, installation, and maintenance of irrigation systems, as well as providing expert advice to farmers. Key Responsibilities

• Designing and planning efficient irrigation systems (drip, sprinkler, center pivot) based on crop needs, soil type, and water availability.
• Overseeing the installation and commissioning of new irrigation infrastructure.
• Conducting regular assessments and audits of existing irrigation systems to identify areas for improvement.
• Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to irrigation system performance.
• Providing technical guidance and training to farmers and farm managers on optimal irrigation scheduling and system maintenance.
• Evaluating and recommending new irrigation technologies and water-saving techniques.
• Collaborating with agronomists and other agricultural specialists to ensure integrated farm management.
• Preparing detailed technical reports, proposals, and project documentation.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Engineering, Civil Engineering with an agricultural focus, or a related engineering discipline.
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the design, implementation, and management of agricultural irrigation systems.
• In-depth knowledge of various irrigation technologies, hydraulics, and water management principles.
