Job Overview

We are looking for a dedicated Bookkeeper to manage the financial operations of multiple farm entities.

Your main responsibilities will include accurately recording financial transactions, compiling Annual Financial Statements (AFS), ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing actionable financial insights.

In addition, you'll offer ongoing training and support to farm managers so they can maintain long‑term, sustainable financial health for their operations.

Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Recordkeeping and Compliance

Maintain accurate financial records for multiple farm entities, including tracking income, expenses, and inventory. Oversee accounts payable and receivable: process invoices, payments, and monitor outstanding balances. Conduct bank reconciliations for all entities on a regular basis. Manage payroll, ensuring tax compliance and handling employee benefits. Prepare tax returns and keep updated on agricultural tax laws, leveraging any applicable subsidies and credits. Stay current with compliance requirements to meet industry‑specific regulations.

2. Annual Financial Statements (AFS) Compilation

Prepare AFS for each farm entity, including Income Statements, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow Statements. Ensure statements comply with IFRS or local GAAP standards, incorporating agricultural accounting practices. Coordinate with external auditors when needed.

3. Budgeting and Cost Analysis

Develop and monitor budgets for each farm entity. Track and analyze expenses to ensure cost‑efficiency across all operations. Provide financial reports and insights to guide strategic decision‑making.

4. Farmer Training and Support

Train farm managers on interpreting financial reports, preparing budgets, and applying basic bookkeeping principles. Assist in creating seasonal budgets and adapting to cash‑flow changes during different farming cycles. Educate farmers on relevant tax laws, subsidies, and compliance specifics in agriculture. Conduct regular check‑ins to review financial performance and offer refresher training. Deliver customized financial reports aligned with each farm's operational goals.

5. Advisory and Strategy Development

Contribute to longer‑term planning around investments, expansions, and equipment financing. Stay informed about industry trends; facilitate workshops or webinars on best practices. Provide on‑call assistance for urgent financial queries or issues.

Qualifications

Education : Diploma or degree in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Finance, or a related field. Experience : Proven bookkeeping experience, ideally handling multiple sets of books in the agricultural sector. Technical Expertise : Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Xero). Strong Excel skills for data management and financial analysis. Ability to compile AFS in line with IFRS or local GAAP.

Knowledge and Skills

Understanding of agricultural cycles, products, and regulatory requirements. Excellent attention to detail for managing complex financial records. Strong communication skills to clearly explain financial information to non‑financial stakeholders.

Preferred

Experience preparing and submitting AFS for agricultural businesses. Familiarity with agricultural tax incentives, subsidies, and best practices for sustainabilityfort with coaching and training non‑financial managers on financial principles.
