Job summary

WSP is seeking a Mine Waste Group Manager, Africa to lead the Africa Mine Waste team, drive strategic growth, and deliver major tailings and geotechnical projects across the region.

You will shape the business strategy, build a high-performing team, and oversee project delivery, client relationships, and proposals across Africa. Leadership, technical excellence, and strong BD capabilities are essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience on tailings/mine waste projects locally or internationally.
• Demonstrated leadership with 10+ direct reports or more.
• 15+ years in mine tailings design and management.
• Relevant SHEQ training (internal or external).
• Proven experience in leadership roles within consulting environments.
• Strong business development and ongoing project pipeline management.

Responsibilities

• Lead Mine Waste Africa, manage resources, budgets, timesheets, and hiring activities.
• Develop and drive group KPIs; align with strategy and financial objectives.
• Oversee tailings design studies, geotechnical services, and lab activities.
• Ensure safe, compliant operations and foster a high-performing team.
• Develop client relationships, manage multi-regional projects, and pursue proposals.
