Job description
Overview

The purpose of the position is to expand and manage ooba Solar’s hyper-local market presence by building and maintaining a strong network of affiliate partners, referrers, and community influencers. This role is responsible for identifying, recruiting, and overseeing formal and informal networks that drive customer referrals, ensuring effective engagement, structured performance tracking, and sustained business growth. By fostering strategic partnerships, delivering compelling presentations, and managing financial and contractual processes, this position plays a critical role in scaling ooba Solar’s market reach and driving campaign success.

We are open to considering a driven and ambitious graduate who is eager to launch their career and make an impact. This role is ideal for someone with a strong work ethic, sharp thinking, and the confidence to take initiative. Rather than requiring direct experience in this specific role, we’re looking for someone with the right attitude, intelligence, and career focus to grow into it. If you’re a talented individual ready to step up, or even making a career transition and excited about the potential this opportunity offers, we’d love to hear from you.

Responsibilities
  • Expand and manage hyper-local market share by identifying, engaging, and overseeing affiliate partners—including individuals, community organisations, and informal networks—who manage their own affiliates and/or employees to support ooba Solar campaigns.
  • Identify, recruit, and organise formal and informal networks to act as agent referrers, ensuring strong relationship management and effective performance tracking.
  • Source affiliate and referral leads locally and nationally from diverse market channels.
  • Engage affiliates and network managers by initiating contact, arranging meetings, and presenting ooba’s developer offering to secure participation.
  • Deliver compelling presentations and negotiations to establish and maintain strong partnerships for new and ongoing campaigns.
  • Administer affiliate agreements, issuing contracts and proposals across districts and following up on outstanding agreements.
  • Ensure data integrity by maintaining a master file of all signed agreements for tracking and compliance.
  • Monitor financial transactions, tracking marketing advances and contributions to prevent financial losses.
  • Provide structured reporting, delivering weekly and monthly insights on performance, partner engagement, and financial metrics.
  • Conduct market analysis to assess ooba’s market share and support strategic decision-making.
Required Skills & Knowledge
  • Business Development & Market Strategy: Skilled in market analysis, business planning, and identifying growth opportunities.
  • Leadership & Network Growth: Proven ability to build and manage referral networks, scaling from inception to 50+ active leaders.
  • Relationship Management: Strong expertise in partner relationship management, stakeholder engagement, and networking to drive business success.
  • Public Speaking & Presentations: Confident and articulate communicator with experience presenting to diverse audiences.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, with the ability to leverage technology for operational efficiency.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication abilities in English, with proficiency in a second South African language considered advantageous.
  • Industry Expertise: Deep understanding of local commercial influencers and effective engagement strategies.
  • Affiliate & Referral Management: Skilled in researching, sourcing, and managing affiliates and referral partners within the local market.
  • Performance Tracking & Reporting: Competent in monitoring, analysing, and reporting on key campaign performance indicators (KPIs).
Qualifications
  • Minimum Education: Matric (Grade 12) required.
  • Preferred Education: A tertiary qualification is advantageous but not essential. Relevant experience will be considered in place of formal qualifications.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years in a similar role.
  • Campaign & Sales Experience: Experience in managing sales, activation, or marketing field campaigns is advantageous.
  • Business Development: Prior experience in business development is beneficial.
