Job description
CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

To ensure high standard of discipline is adhered to by students, thus fostering a conducive environment for learning, embracing University values, compliance with Higher Education Act and Student Disciplinary Policy. To ensure that all reported alleged student transgression(s) matters are properly recorded and handled. Play a crucial role in arranging set down dates for student disciplinary enquiries/hearings. In conjunction with Senior Director and Legal Advisors, facilitate issuing of notices to appear at the disciplinary enquiry, issuing of No Contact Orders, processing of sanctions, processing of review outcomes, etc. Arranging sessions for Pardon Committee meetings.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
  • Provide a paralegal service for Student Disciplinary matters.
  • Arrange Review Committee meetings of Council.
  • Provide professional information and communication service to staff and students.
  • Process claims submitted by Presiding Officer(s) or Chairperson(s), the members of the Review Committee members, etc.
  • Develop and maintain an effective system in respect of document management.
  • Ensure efficient and effective delivery of documents for student disciplinary hearings.
  • Provide professional service to Ombuds and Adjudicator.
  • Conduct awareness campaigns, workshops, etc.

Requirements
  • Matric/Grade 12 (Paralegal Diploma advantageous)
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role;
  • Ability to work independently and manage files/matters with instruction by the Senior Director and Legal Advisors;
  • Ability to handle volumes of different matters, work under pressure and to use initiative;
  • Ability to prioritise and work meticulously,
  • Excellent telephone etiquette;
  • Ability to fit in well within the processes and procedures in place;
  • Experience in working at higher education institution.
