Overview

In order to discharge its mandate, the FAIS Ombud seeks to appoint Graduate Trainees as part of the Graduate Recruitment Programme.

This is a structured programme specifically designed to produce a pipeline of competent trainee entrants to the labour market. The duration of the programme is twelve months. Recommended candidates will be given an opportunity to learn under a dedicated mentor.

Graduates will be assigned to the Case Management / Adjudication Department and exposed to various competency‑based training. Benefits of the programme include exposure to working in a target‑driven environment on complaints received by the public against financial service providers and moving those towards a resolution in a procedurally fair, informal, economical and expeditious manner. The role involves working in a team of experienced lawyers, financial planners, investigators and negotiators, and offers the opportunity to be part of an established statutory office and a Mentorship Programme.

Qualifications

  • LLB degree.
  • PLT (Practical Legal Training) will be an advantage.
  • Passion for public service and an interest / desire to work in the Financial Sector.
  • Strong academic background.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment; willing to learn and work extra hours.
  • Energetic, self‑driven and deadline‑driven.
  • Must be computer literate.
