Job summary

FNB South Africa in Randburg is seeking an Actuarial Specialist II to autonomously prepare data and perform basic to intermediate analyses, while handling complex analyses under supervision. You will manage independent projects, mentor juniors, and communicate with stakeholders, delivering presentations to management committees and executive teams.

The role supports the Short Term Insurance Pricing Team, focusing on pricing models, premium calculations, and product design.

Qualifications

• BSc Actuarial Science degree
• BSc Honours in Actuarial Science preferred
• Completed at least eight Actuarial Exams
• 4-5 years' relevant pricing experience in Insurance/Investments/Banking
• Commercial or Personal lines experience is an advantage
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with actuarial software (SQL, SAS, Python, R, Power BI, Emblem, Radar)
• Experience with data visualization tools is advantageous
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to present to non-technical audiences
• Proven ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams
• Keen to continuously learn and grow in actuarial profession

Responsibilities

• Support development, updating, and validation of actuarial pricing models for short-term insurance products (personal and commercial lines)
• Conduct complex data preparation and analysis for pricing studies, experience investigations, and profitability assessments
• Drive development of new product features and review existing products with market insights
• Compile, interpret, and communicate statistical and financial data to underpin pricing decisions
• Prepare reports and presentations for internal stakeholders, summarising findings and recommendations
