Job summary

FNB Life in Johannesburg is seeking a senior Actuarial Specialist (Corporate Actuarial) to own key valuation and experience activities while guiding a team of aspiring actuaries. The role is hands-on, close to the numbers, and spans SAM, embedded value, governance, and presenting insights to executive management and governance forums.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science required.
• FASSA qualification (or IFA equivalent) required.
• Minimum 5 years actuarial experience in Life Insurance, Financial services or actuarial consulting.
• Life valuations experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery and review of SAM, Embedded Value and actuarial basis-setting activities.
• Coach, develop and provide day-to-day guidance to a team of actuaries.
• Perform detailed technical analyses of balance sheets to reveal key drivers and trends.
• Review actuarial results, models, methodologies and processes for accuracy and consistency.
• Provide actuarial input into capital management, balance sheet management and strategic decisions.
• Present movements in solvency, embedded value and experience to senior management and governance forums.
• Drive improvements in models, reporting and analytics through automation.
• Support governance and audit requirements with robust documentation and controls.
• Lead actuarial workstreams across multiple stakeholders and priorities.
