Project Overview

Our client is looking for an experienced contractor for a six-month period to provide product, implementation and operational support across several smaller fund proposals and migration initiatives.

The role will take ownership of coordinating and implementing a range of fund changes, including establishing interim manual processes where system development is not immediately available. The contractor will work across Product, Servicing, Administration, Operations and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that agreed proposals are translated into workable processes and successfully transitioned into BAU.

The role will also provide additional capacity for migration testing, post-migration support and NGP BAU activities during a period of reduced team capacity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Smooth bonus proposal implementation
  • Customer communication and stakeholder coordination
  • Guarantee management and designing and managing manual processes
  • Migration support
    • Map and coordinate pre-migration, migration and post-migration activities across affected funds.
    • Support migration and regression testing where additional capacity is required.
    • Assist with readiness assessments and issue resolution.
    • Provide post-migration support and assist with stabilising processes following implementation.
    • Support other migration workstreams where capacity is required.
  • BAU support
    • Provide additional capacity to the NGP team for BAU product and operational activities.
    • Assist with the management of smooth bonus fund activities where additional capacity is required.
    • Help maintain continuity of critical BAU activities during the six-month contract period.
Key Deliverables

By the end of the contract period, the contractor would be expected to have:

  • Progressed and/or implemented the identified smaller smooth bonus proposals.
  • Established workable manual guarantee processes, including the required spreadsheet tools and supporting documentation.
  • Completed appropriate process dry runs and clarified BAU ownership.
  • Coordinated relevant customer communication activities.
  • Facilitated the Capital Guarantee Life Fund BSA merger requirements.
  • Supported system guarantee corrections for the affected funds.
  • Established clear pre-, during- and post-migration plans.
  • Provided migration testing and post-implementation support as required.
  • Successfully handed implemented processes into BAU with appropriate documentation and knowledge transfer.
Experience and Skills Required
Essential
  • Strong financial background - qualified actuary; nearly qualified actuary; financial professional who studies Business Science/Actuarial Science.
  • At least 5 years strong work experience within financial services, preferably life insurance.
  • Experience in product implementation, product management, business analysis or operational change.
  • Strong analytical capability and advanced practical Excel skills, including the ability to build robust spreadsheet-based operational solutions.
  • Experience documenting and implementing business processes.
  • Ability to coordinate activities across multiple teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong planning, problem-solving and delivery skills.
  • Comfortable working with both technical/product subject matter and operational implementation.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of deliverables.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong Excel, SQL and modelling experience.
Highly advantageous
  • Experience with bonus or guaranteed investment products.
  • Knowledge of guarantee-related processes within retirement fund or insurance products.
  • Experience with administration platform migrations and/or fund migrations.
  • Experience in testing, implementation readiness and post-production support.
Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a hands-on delivery person who can move comfortably between analysis and execution. The successful incumbent will need to understand the underlying product and process requirements, translate them into practical solutions, work through detailed implementation issues, and actively drive delivery across multiple stakeholders.

They should be comfortable operating in an environment where some solutions will initially require manual processes rather than immediate system development, while ensuring those processes are controlled, documented, repeatable and capable of being transitioned into BAU.
