The role is responsible for driving the effective delivery of the L&S CFO agenda. This is a broad, high-exposure role suited to a commercially minded actuary who can coordinate across businesses, influence senior stakeholders and translate complex technical information into clear insights for decision making. The Business Partner will integrate the L&S financial and actuarial views, ensuring that results, plans and forecasts are complete, consistent and supported by clear executive commentary. Integrate the L&S business plan and forecasts, explain the main earnings, value, capital, cash, expense and volume drivers, and challenge the completeness and consistency of assumptions. Escalate material performance issues or assumptions requiring deeper review to the appropriate accountable function. Manage expense and cost savings related reporting.
Actuarial and financial governance. Drive effective AFF and related governance forums through focused agendas, rigorous review, clear escalation, decision records and disciplined action tracking, ensuring effective functioning of the Actuarial Control Cycle across the Cluster. Ensure that material experience, valuation, capital and reporting issues are surfaced through AFF and assigned to the appropriate accountable function. Establish consistent definitions, methods, controls and reporting expectations across L&S, while execution remains with the relevant BU or specialist team.
Performance insight and specialist support. Identify material performance issues through reporting, planning and actuarial governance, and recommend appropriate follow-up. Provide technical actuarial and commercial input on finance initiatives requiring judgment across IFRS 17, EV, capital and business performance. Lead competitor analysis across major South African insurers, translating peer results into actionable insights.
