Position Details
You will provide support to senior analysts and managers, using actuarial models to identify, model, and monitor business problems to provide effective solutions. You will be responsible for translating results from impact and sensitivity analyses into business insights regarding pricing changes, profitability, and policy growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Model Deployment & Testing:Support the planning and delivery of system changes and engage with users to design solutions.
- Actuarial Modeling:Develop, maintain, and implement actuarial models that are fit for purpose and accurately estimate reality.
- Business Requirements:Support the collection of business requirements and assist with managing key metrics such as the value of new business and embedded value.
- Data Analysis:Extract, verify, and reconcile data against credible sources to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Stakeholder Engagement:Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., Sales and Marketing) and external stakeholders regarding product development.
- Reporting:Prepare data and analytics reports, presenting insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Innovation:Identify shortcomings in existing processes and proactively develop solutions to improve business efficiencies.
Requirements
Education
- Essential:Bachelors degree in Actuarial Science or similar.
- Advantageous:Making good progress toward Actuarial qualification.
Experience
- Essential:1 or more years of actuarial experience within a Short-Term insurance environment.
Skills & Competencies
- Modeling:Ability to develop financial and economic models for planning and monitoring.
- Data & Tech:Competence in Data Mining and Machine Learning to extract patterns from large datasets.
- Software:Proficiency in Actuarial and statistical software, as well as Advanced Microsoft Office.
- Numerical Skills:Strong background in mathematics and statistics.
- Compliance:Knowledge of relevant regulatory codes and adherence to Actuarial Society of South Africa standards.
- Behavioral:Strong financial acumen, business insight, and the ability to manage complexity and ambiguity.
