Description
- Montego Pet Nutrition is seeking a detail-driven and strategically minded Accounting Manager to lead our core financial accounting, treasury, and accounts payable functions. You’ll ensure accuracy, compliance, and integrity across financial and capital expenditure data — and yes, you’ll probably sleep better knowing every decimal sits exactly where it should.
What You’ll Be Doing (Key Responsibilities)
Treasury & Daily Payments
- Review and approve daily payments, ensuring accuracy of tax invoices, bank details, and supporting documentation.
- Review vendor payment journals prior to posting and oversee timely closure of open purchase orders.
- Process international payments and invoicing on Microsoft Dynamics 365.
- Review remittances, compile age analyses, and investigate reconciliation variances.
Financial Analysis & Reporting
- Support monthly financial reporting and respond to ad-hoc data requests.
- Review OPEX allocations, budgets, and variance reports.
- Execute month-end activities including finance cost journals, accruals, fixed assets, and VAT submissions.
- Analyse income and expenses, reconcile accounts, and maintain accuracy across ledgers.
Capex & Fixed Asset Accounting
- Create and maintain asset codes and the Fixed Asset Register in the ERP system.
- Prepare, capitalise, and analyse Capex project data, ensuring proper authorisation and closure.
- Identify and process impairments or write-offs as needed.
Governance & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with IFRS and the Companies Act.
- Prepare and provide audit and statutory reporting support.
- Continuously strengthen internal financial controls and record-keeping.
People Leadership
- Lead and mentor the Accounts Payable and Cashbook teams.
- Drive performance, teamwork, and professional growth.
- Champion Montego’s company culture and ensure open communication and accountability.
Requirements
What You’ll Bring
- Minimum : Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) or equivalent qualification.
- Ideal : Post-articles experience with a professional accounting designation (SAICA, SAIPA, or CIMA).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in finance, accounting, or accounts payable (including IFRS).
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in team leadership and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP, Power BI, and MS Office.
- Strong analytical, reconciliation, and variance-analysis skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Skilled in variance analysis, reporting, and reconciliation.
- Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal finesse.
- Someone who is fast-moving, deadline-driven, and unflappably calm when things get busy.
- IFRS, Treasury, and Financial Reporting principles.
- Deep understanding of bank reconciliations, vendor management, and tax invoices.
- Familiarity with Power BI and Capex processes.
