PKF Cape Town is seeking a technically strong and detail‑oriented Accounting & Compliance Manager to join our dynamic team. This individual will be responsible for managing accounting engagements, including compilations and management reports of companies’ trusts and individuals.
REQUIREMENTS
- BCom Accounting or PGDA / CTA (completed or in progress).
- Completed SAIPA or CIMA articles.
- Eligible to register or already registered as a Professional Accountant (SAIPA) would be advantageous.
- Minimum of 2–4 years post-articles experience in an accounting or audit firm.
- Strong technical knowledge of IFRS for SMEs, Companies Act, and tax legislation.
- Proven experience in tax calculations and financial statement preparation.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Compilations & Accounting
- Prepare and review annual financial statements (AFS) in accordance with IFRS for SMEs.
- Ensure all balance sheet and income statement items are substantiated with supporting documentation and analytical review.
- Manage compilation engagements from planning to sign-off, ensuring quality, accuracy, and timeliness.
- Oversee monthly management accounts, reconciliations, and accounting processes for client entities.
- Draft and review engagement letters, subordination agreements, and management confirmations.
Trusts & Individuals
- Prepare and review annual financial statements and tax returns for trusts and individuals.
- Review trust deeds, resolutions, and distributions for compliance and accuracy.
- Manage accounting and tax compliance for high-net-worth individuals and family groups.
- Provide guidance on optimal structuring, estate, and succession planning considerations.
Tax Compliance & Advisory
- Review and oversee the submission of income tax, provisional tax, VAT, and PAYE returns for individuals, companies, and trusts.
- Reconcile tax computations to financial statements and ensure timely submission of all returns.
- Liaise with SARS regarding audits, verifications, and objections.
- Provide tax planning support and identify value-adding opportunities for clients.
People & Client Management
- Supervise, train, and review work performed by junior and intermediate accountants.
- Manage client communication and ensure exceptional service delivery.
- Monitor project progress and ensure deadlines are consistently met.
- Contribute to the firm’s knowledge base by sharing updates on accounting and tax legislation.
- Maintain professional and ethical standards in all interactions with clients and team members.
