PKF Cape Town is seeking a technically strong and detail‑oriented Accounting & Compliance Manager to join our dynamic team. This individual will be responsible for managing accounting engagements, including compilations and management reports of companies’ trusts and individuals.

REQUIREMENTS
  • BCom Accounting or PGDA / CTA (completed or in progress).
  • Completed SAIPA or CIMA articles.
  • Eligible to register or already registered as a Professional Accountant (SAIPA) would be advantageous.
  • Minimum of 2–4 years post-articles experience in an accounting or audit firm.
  • Strong technical knowledge of IFRS for SMEs, Companies Act, and tax legislation.
  • Proven experience in tax calculations and financial statement preparation.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
  • Excellent technical accounting and analytical skills.

  • Proficient in accounting software (CaseWare, Xero or similar) and Microsoft Excel.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Compilations & Accounting
  • Prepare and review annual financial statements (AFS) in accordance with IFRS for SMEs.
  • Ensure all balance sheet and income statement items are substantiated with supporting documentation and analytical review.
  • Manage compilation engagements from planning to sign-off, ensuring quality, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Oversee monthly management accounts, reconciliations, and accounting processes for client entities.
  • Draft and review engagement letters, subordination agreements, and management confirmations.
Trusts & Individuals
  • Prepare and review annual financial statements and tax returns for trusts and individuals.
  • Review trust deeds, resolutions, and distributions for compliance and accuracy.
  • Manage accounting and tax compliance for high-net-worth individuals and family groups.
  • Provide guidance on optimal structuring, estate, and succession planning considerations.
Tax Compliance & Advisory
  • Review and oversee the submission of income tax, provisional tax, VAT, and PAYE returns for individuals, companies, and trusts.
  • Reconcile tax computations to financial statements and ensure timely submission of all returns.
  • Liaise with SARS regarding audits, verifications, and objections.
  • Provide tax planning support and identify value-adding opportunities for clients.
People & Client Management
  • Supervise, train, and review work performed by junior and intermediate accountants.
  • Manage client communication and ensure exceptional service delivery.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure deadlines are consistently met.
  • Contribute to the firm’s knowledge base by sharing updates on accounting and tax legislation.
  • Maintain professional and ethical standards in all interactions with clients and team members.
