Job description
Overview

We’re looking for a detail-oriented Property Accounting Assistant to support our property finance team with day-to-day accounting operations. Working alongside a Senior Property Accountant, you’ll assist with accounts receivable, supplier invoicing, reconciliations, and month-end activities while ensuring accuracy and efficiency across all property accounting functions.

We understand the need to provide a flexible working environment partnered with team collaboration and socialisation. Therefore, we operate a hybrid working model with 3 days of working from home per week. This role is based in the Cape Town office.

Responsibilities
  • Working with a senior property accountant, helping to administer all levels of Property Accounting and special projects as needed.
  • Accounts receivable: assist with creating cash applications, charges, and invoices for tenants. This will also extend to posting daily receipts for tenant payments.
  • Liaising with clients to deal with any tenant-related queries.
  • Supporting with coding supplier invoices and creating manual checks in the system.
  • Preparing bank reconciliations.
  • Month / Year end activities include closing periods, running GL reports e.g. Trial Balance and reconciling balance sheet accounts.
Requirements
  • 2-4 years’ experience of cash applications and/or bookkeeping
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, peers, and management through written and/or verbal communication.
  • Accounting qualification from University
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work under deadlines.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to manage priorities.
  • A high degree of dependability, motivation and flexibility.
Nice To Have
  • Experience using MRI Software applications.
  • Understanding of Property & Lease Management processes & principles.
  • Comfortable with System Administration tasks (non-technical).
  • Previous experience with client facing roles.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
