We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Accountant to join our finance team on a 4-5-month temporary contract.

This role is ideal for candidates with 3-6 years of accounting experience who are eager to make an immediate impact in a fast-paced environment. You will support daily financial operations, assist with reporting, and collaborate across departments.

Candidates should have a solid understanding of accounting principles, experience with reconciliations and financial reporting, and the ability to work independently.

Must be available to start immediately.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain accurate financial records, including journal entries, general ledger accounts, and reconciliations
  • Prepare and manage accounting journals and schedules, including:
    • Fixed asset register journals (e.g., goodwill amortization)
    • Lease journals
    • Prepaid expenses
    • Accrued expenses
  • Perform ad hoc accounting tasks as required
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement)
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely, accurate reporting
  • Conduct variance and trend analyses to identify discrepancies and recommend improvements
  • Contribute to budgeting and forecasting by compiling and analyzing financial data
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
  • Provide documentation and explanations for internal and external audit requests
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve accounting issues and deliver financial insights
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency in accounting operations
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree or postgraduate qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (e.g., Accounting Degree or Postgraduate Diploma in Accountancy)
  • 3-6 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in financial reporting or general ledger functions
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and standard accounting practices
  • Proficiency in accounting software, particularly QuickBooks
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis)
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in financial data management
  • Strong organizational abilities with proven capacity to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across teams

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This job operates in a professional office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be largely sedentary and will be required to sit/stand for long periods while using a computer and telephone headset. The employee will be regularly required to operate a computer and other office equipment, including a phone, copier, and printer. The employee may occasionally be required to move about the office to accomplish tasks; reach in any direction; raise or lower objects, move objects from place to place, hold onto objects, and move or exert force up to forty (40) pounds.
