Job summary

A recruitment agency is seeking an experienced accounting professional to maintain financial records, process payroll, and ensure compliance with regulations in Pretoria, South Africa. The ideal candidate has a Degree in Accounting/Finance and over 5 years of accounting and payroll experience, along with proficiency in SageOne and SimplePay.

Qualifications

  • Maintain accurate financial records and ledgers.
  • Process invoices, payments, and journal entries.
  • Prepare management accounts and financial reports.
  • Process monthly payroll accurately.

Job description
Qualifications and skills required
  • Diploma or Degree in Accounting / Finance.
  • 35 years experience in accounting and payroll.
  • Proficient in SageOne and SimplePay is advantageous.
  • Strong numerical, organisational and analytical skills.
  • Strong knowledge of South African payroll legislation and SARS submissions.
  • Experience preparing management accounts and statutory returns.
Key responsibilities
Accounting
  • Maintain accurate financial records, ledgers and supporting schedules.
  • Process invoices, payments, receipts and journal entries.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, creditors and debtors.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
  • Assist with budgeting analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
  • Liaise with auditors, tax practitioners and regulatory authorities.
  • Prepare and submit VAT, PAYE and other statutory returns.
  • Assist with daily, weekly and monthly bank payment processes.
Payroll Administration
  • Process monthly payroll accurately and on time.
  • Maintain employee payroll records including earnings, deductions, benefits and leave.
  • Ensure compliance with SARS regulations, UIF, SDL and other statutory requirements.
  • Prepare and submit EMP201 and EMP501 reconciliations.
  • Handle payroll queries with professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare payroll-related journals.
  • Support HR with onboarding, terminations and employee benefits administration.
