Role Purpose
The Accountant will oversee the financial, payroll, and procurement functions at the Ngodwana site, ensuring all operations are efficient, accurate, and compliant. This role requires strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and the capacity to perform effectively under pressure. The successful incumbent will contribute to strategic financial management, operational efficiency, and cost control, while ensuring adherence to company policies and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance and service excellence.
- Oversee payroll administration, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
- Prepare financial statements and management reports for executive review.
- Manage cost control, account reconciliation, and monthly financial reporting.
- Supervise bookkeeping functions including invoicing, creditors, debtors, cashbook, inventory, and procurement.
- Manage requisition processes and ensure accurate loading of all financial data.
- Submit monthly and annual statutory returns.
- Administer and monitor the O&M contract and related financial performance.
- Assist management with pricing structures, CAPEX applications, and insurance declarations.
- Compile annual budgets and monitor performance against approved targets.
- Ensure proper asset control, including additions, disposals, and depreciation management.
- Reconcile all general ledger accounts and ensure accurate allocations.
- Oversee bank transactions, petty cash, and card reconciliations.
- Manage regular cycle counts and annual stock take processes.
- Attend management meetings and present financial reports and insights.
- Drive economic development reporting and ensure all obligations are met.
- Promote and maintain a safe, compliant, and well‑organized work environment.
Qualifications
- BCom Accounting or relevant degree (essential).
- Post‑graduate qualification in Business Management (advantageous).
Experience
- Minimum of 10 years’ accounting experience in a technical, engineering, or plant‑based environment.
- Strong background in procurement, warehouse management, and stock control.
- Experience with payroll, accounting, and procurement systems (CMMS and Syspro preferred).
- Knowledge of production, power plant, or engineering environments advantageous.
