Job summary

JSM Business Services and Recruitment is seeking an Accountant to oversee general accounting operations, ensuring accurate recording and validation of financial transactions, and supporting month-end close.

The role involves preparing financial statements, VAT submissions, budgets, forecasts, and maintaining ledgers, while working with internal teams and maintaining confidentiality of financial data. English and Afrikaans are required, with flexibility to work additional hours as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5-7 years’ financial experience.

Responsibilities

• Ensures integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, and consolidating transactions.

Accountant Job Description

The overall objective of the Accountant is to oversee general accounting operations by controlling and verifying financial transactions.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions.
2. Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analysing account information.
3. Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.
4. Maintains general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts, preparing a trial balance, and reconciling entries.
5. Summarizes financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheet profit and loss, and other statements.
6. Analyses financial trends.
7. Monthly Finance Reporting.
8. VAT Preparation and submissions.
9. Manage weekly and monthly payments.
10. Completes external audit by analysing and scheduling general ledger accounts and providing information for auditors.
11. Prepare Forecast costs and Revenues.
12. Prepare Budgets.
13. Avoids legal challenges by complying with legal requirements.
14. Secures financial information by completing database backups.
15. Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
