The Role

As the Accountant , you will play a key role in managing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting management with strategic insights. Youll work closely with operations, logistics, and sales teams gaining a holistic view of the business from orchard to shelf.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full accounting function (cashbook, creditors, debtors, general ledger, and reconciliations).
• Prepare monthly management accounts, budgets, and forecasts.
• Support year-end audits and liaise with External Auditors.
• Maintain accurate stock and cost records related to fresh produce.
• Assist with financial analysis to support operational decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with statutory and tax requirements (VAT, PAYE, etc.).
• Continuously improve accounting processes and internal controls.

Requirements

• Completed SAIPA or SAICA articles (essential).
• BCom Accounting or a related qualification.
• Minimum 24 years post-article experience (agriculture, FMCG, or manufacturing environment preferred).
• Strong Excel and accounting system skills (Sage, Xero, or similar).
• Knowledge of costing and stock control in a production or trading environment is an advantage.
• Excellent attention to detail, analytical ability, and a proactive mindset.
