What does an Accountant do at Hogarth?

The TCCC Accountant is a comprehensive financial role responsible for managing the TCCC account and Studio X operations at the WPP Johannesburg Campus. Reporting to the Financial Manager, key responsibilities span end-to-end production job management (including purchase orders, supplier invoices, and timely payments), meticulous handling of debtors, billing, and collections, and full lifecycle management of Capex and insurance. The role also involves managing ERP accounting, preparing financial reports for TCCC and Studio X, and conducting ad-hoc financial analysis, cost allocation, and intercompany reporting. Success in this position requires a recognized accounting qualification, strong accuracy and organizational skills, proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel, and familiarity with WPP and TCCC platforms like Chase, MAP, and Studio X.

Reporting lines and key stakeholders

This role reports to the Financial Controller.

You will work closely with the Assistant Accountant and the Finance Manager.

Key Responsibilities
Production Job Management
  • Manage TCCC jobs on Chase, ensuring accurate job setup and lifecycle tracking
  • Issue and confirm Purchase Orders to OpCos participating in the Studio X Model and third-party suppliers
  • Receive, verify, and process supplier invoices; ensure timely payments
  • Follow up with Producers and relevant staff on open items and job statuses
Debtors, Billings & Collections
  • Review project statements on MAP and distribute client POs to Producers
  • Create or Verify and approve Cost Estimate sheets on Chase per approved process flow
  • Action billing instructions and credit notes in line with Hogarth and client requirements and issue Client statements to follow up on payments
  • Maintain organized filing (electronic/paper) and adhere to process flow standards
Capex and Insurance Management
  • Custodian of all Capex purchases: Obtain approval and place the orders with pre-approved suppliers
  • Capex management- Create Capex Number, Capitalisation of costs, Depreciation journal review, Disposals of assets
  • Main liaison with Insurance provider to have updated Insurance cover details and schedules, processing of all company related Insurance claims
Accounting & Financial Reporting
  • Manage all ERP accounting for the TCCC account, including Studio X
  • Prepare financial reports within BFC for TCCC and Studio X
  • Support the broader finance team as needed
Adhoc Reporting & Analysis
  • Develop tracking tools for revenue recognition, cost analysis, and data collection
  • Monitor Studio X cost allocations and PnL statements
  • Intercompany Balances reporting and resolve of queires
  • Deliver ad hoc reports and insights related to the TCCC account
