About the Role
The Accountant / Controller will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, and providing financial insights to support strategic decision‑making. This role offers a blend of hands‑on accounting, process improvement, and leadership within a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee accounting functions, including general ledger management, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
- Prepare accurate financial statements in accordance with South African accounting standards.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
- Monitor cash flow, manage working capital, and optimise financial performance.
- Coordinate and support external audits, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Provide financial analysis and insights to guide strategic business decisions.
- Ensure compliance with all tax regulations (VAT, PAYE, UIF, and other statutory obligations).
Reporting Structure
Reports to: General Manager Finance. Liaises with: Department Heads and Cross‑Functional Teams.
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent qualification.
- Completed Articles.
- Minimum 5 years proven experience in accounting or financial management.
- Solid understanding of South African accounting standards and tax laws.
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., Xero or similar).
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
