Qualifications

• This role requires a BCom in Accounting or Finance and completion of SAICA/SAIPA articles.

• Candidate must be Gauteng-based and comfortable working fully remotely.
• Ability to investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies independently.
• Proficient in MS Excel (PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, IF), handling large data sets.
• Exposure to multi-company/group accounting and multi-currency environments is advantageous.
• Experience with management accounts, cash flow, VAT and audits is beneficial.
• High accuracy, attention to detail, and strong communication with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily accounting and general ledgers across entities.
• Prepare and process journals.
• Perform bank, supplier and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Investigate variances and reconciling items.
• Manage intercompany reconciliations across entities.
• Support month-end close and management accounts.
• Process accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, payroll and VAT.
• Assist with reporting for audits and year-end.
• Support cash-flow reporting and forecasting.
• Identify control weaknesses and drive process improvements.

Some Accountants reconcile the numbers. Great Accountants understand why they don't balance in the first place. Our client is a multinational travel and tourism business on an exciting growth trajectory, looking for a hands-on, technically sound Accountant who has completed their articles and is ready to take ownership across a growing international group. The role is fully remote, with the successful candidate needing to be Gauteng-based. You'll work closely with the Senior Accountant and Finance Manager while gaining valuable exposure to group accounting within an international travel environment.

This is not a purely transactional bookkeeping role. You'll be working across multiple companies and currencies, taking ownership of month-end processes, reconciliations, intercompany accounting, financial controls and reporting. When something doesn't tie, you're expected to investigate it, understand the accounting behind it and see it through to resolution.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage daily accounting and general ledger processes across entities
• Prepare and process journals
• Perform bank, supplier and balance sheet reconciliations
• Investigate and resolve variances and reconciling items
• Manage supplier accounting, statement reconciliations and payment support
• Assist with monthly financial close and management accounts
• Process and reconcile accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, payroll, VAT and statutory accounts
• Manage intercompany reconciliations across entities
• Support multi-currency accounting and foreign exchange reconciliations
• Reconcile operational booking systems to accounting records and investigate discrepancies
• Prepare supporting schedules for reporting, audits and year-end
• Assist with cash-flow reporting and forecasting
• Identify control weaknesses and drive improvements in accounting processes
• Maintain accurate, well-supported records and clear audit trails

Job Experience and Skills:

• BCom in Accounting or Finance
• Completed SAICA or SAIPA accounting articles essential
• Transaction-intensive industry experience
• Strong month-end accounting experience
• Gauteng-based and comfortable working fully remotely
• Ability to investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies independently
• Strong MS Excel skills (PivotTables, XLOOKUP / VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, IF formulas and large data sets)
• Multi-company / group accounting experience advantageous
• Multi-currency experience advantageous
• Management accounts, cash flow, VAT and audit experience advantageous
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
