An investment management firm in Cape Town is seeking a qualified CA(SA) Accountant to join their Group Finance team. This role involves preparing group consolidations and management reports, engaging with external auditors, and contributing to various financial processes. Ideal for candidates with 0-1 year of post-articles experience and a strong attention to detail. The position requires a minimum of 4 days in-office attendance, with potential for additional days during peak seasons.

Together, these businesses provide various investment products to individuals, retirement funds, insurers, medical schemes, trusts and companies.

The group's orientation is long-term, particularly the investment philosophy and relationships with its clients and employees.
The finance function at Allan Gray is centralised so the broader finance team manages the financial affairs for all group entities.
This includes financial and management accounting as well as tax and regulatory compliance.
The Group team (~6 people) is responsible for the consolidation of our group companies and for providing oversight of the reporting for all the group entities.
In achieving this objective, the Group team works closely with the other finance teams in getting a deep understanding of what is happening in each of the areas.
The environment is highly collaborative, team-based, demanding and focused on a high-quality delivery of work.
The Group team also oversees the administration of various trust and remuneration schemes.
This role is a good match for a technical Financial Accountant, recently qualified and team oriented.
You, together with the managers, the group accountants and any CA trainees, will contribute to the group reporting process.
You will also be responsible for the accounting function for the smaller entities, from cash book through to financial statements and reporting to management and various regulators.
Preparation of 3 group consolidations, including AFS and management reporting and various analysis
Preparation of management information on group client assets and flows
Preparation of related party fee calculations
Support the managers in taking on some review functions
Understand and support the various fee calculation systems used across the finance team
Remain up to date with technical matters (IFRS and tax) to support group entities
Engaging with and responding to queries from external auditors
Supporting the administration of trust arrangement
Assist in improving processes and efficiencies across the team
Review of group entity reporting as required, including :
Payments
Monthly reporting packs
The Group has 5 small entities whereby the full accounting function currently sits within the Group team as the activities are infrequent and minimal.
This includes :
Preparation and recording of payments
Recording of income
Raising required receivables and payables
Year end audit packs, including full IFRS AFS and engaging with and responding to queries from external auditors
Tax reporting – preparation and submission of all required tax returns
Preparation of board papers
Preparation of entity budgets

You will be requested to assist with the broader team if the need arises.
The role reports to the Assistant Manager, Group Finance.
1 Silo, V&A, Cape Town, with minimum of 4 days in office – can extend to 5 days during peak season.
