Job summary

A recruitment agency is seeking an experienced Accountant in Bellville. Accountant job vacancy in Stikland / Bellville.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accounting & Bookkeeping:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using Pastel Accounting.
    • Process daily transactions, including invoices, payments, receipts, and journals.
    • Reconcile bank accounts, debtors, and creditors regularly.
    • Manage petty cash and ensure all supporting documentation is filed correctly.
  • Financial Reporting:
    • Prepare monthly management accounts and cash flow summaries.
    • Assist in preparing records for external auditors.
    • Support budgeting and variance analysis processes.
  • Tax & Compliance:
    • Prepare and submit VAT returns, PAYE, and other statutory submissions.
    • Assist with annual tax requirements for both the company and related entities.
    • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and SARS requirements.
  • Trust Accounting:
    • Maintain accounting records for smaller family or business entities.
    • Process income, expenses, distributions, and asset movements accurately.
    • Liaise with trustees/directors and external accountants where required.
  • Administrative & Support Duties:
    • Support management with financial queries and ad-hoc reporting.
    • Coordinate with suppliers, customers, and service providers as needed.
    • Contribute to improving internal financial processes and controls.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Accounting / Finance or equivalent qualification.
  • Completed SAIPA Traineeship
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ relevant accounting experience.
  • Proficiency in Pastel Accounting (experience with Payroll advantageous).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Good understanding of financial reporting, tax, and compliance.
