Job Title: Business Development Manager

Reporting to: Sales Regional Manager
Reporting staff: Team of FSMs
Type of Position: Permanent
Working hours: Mondays to Fridays from 08h00 – 16h30; Alternate Saturdays from 09h00 – 12h30
Purpose of the Position
To lead Field Sales Managers (FSMs) and Independent Contractors (ICs) in identifying optimal selling locations for high-quality sales of legal expenses insurance and funeral cover policies, while adhering to Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of team management, including performance evaluation and disciplinary actions.
- Manage staff performance and development initiatives.
- Collaborate with Field Sales Managers to target Stop Order business and identify new facility opportunities.
- Ensure vehicles assigned to branches comply with fleet procedures and performance targets.
- Manage and maintain marketing and sales materials according to established company standards.
- Inspire sales teams to exceed company sales targets through motivation and support.
- Facilitate ongoing recruitment, training, and support for sales team leaders, Field Sales Consultants, and Field Sales Managers.
- Ensure sales teams operate in compliance with FAIS and TCF principles, prioritizing customer transparency and fairness.
Minimum Criteria and Prerequisite Competencies
- Education: Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent; relevant qualification in Marketing and Sales is advantageous.
- Experience: At least 5 years of sales experience in the insurance sector; at least 3 years as a sales manager, managing a team of Field Sales Managers; strong track record in stop order market; completed FSB Regulatory exam is an advantage.
- Personal Attributes: Honest, reliable, customer-focused, good with people.
- Pre-requisites/Competencies: Analytical, detail-oriented, strong negotiation, networking, leadership, and presentation skills; willingness to travel; relocate at own cost; valid driver’s license and PDP; clear criminal record.
