Job summary

Shift Pursuit is seeking an experienced Account Manager to join our client services team in Cape Town. You will manage client relationships, oversee accounting functions, and ensure high-quality service delivery across multiple deadlines.

You will review financial information, support junior team members, and look for opportunities to improve service delivery while maintaining strong client satisfaction. This role is based in Cape Town and requires fluency in Afrikaans and solid VAT, payroll,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in an accounting environment.
• Qualified SAIPA/ACCA/AGA(SA) member preferred.
• Strong knowledge of VAT, payroll, and tax compliance.
• Experience using accounting software, preferably Xero.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of clients and maintain strong client relationships.
• Coordinate accounting services and ensure client requirements are met.
• Provide guidance and training to junior team members.
• Perform independent reviews and compile annual financial statements.
• Calculate income tax and provisional tax returns.
• Review bi-monthly VAT reconciliations and VAT201 submissions.
• Review monthly accounting data captured in Xero.
• Review payroll reports and EMP201 submissions.
• Review and/or perform financial statement compilations.
• Assist with ad hoc accounting and client-related duties as required.

This role is suited to a professional with strong accounting experience who enjoys working directly with clients, managing deadlines, reviewing financial information, and supporting the development of junior team members. The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining client satisfaction while identifying opportunities to enhance service delivery.

Key Performance Areas:

• Managing a portfolio of clients and maintaining strong client relationships
• Coordinating accounting services and ensuring client requirements are met
• Providing guidance and training to junior team members
• Performing independent reviews
• Compiling annual financial statements
• Calculating income tax and provisional tax returns
• Managing deadlines and ensuring timely completion of deliverables
• Reviewing bi-monthly VAT reconciliations and VAT201 submissions

• Assisting with ad hoc accounting and client-related duties as required

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 3-5 years’ experience in an accounting environment
• BCom Accounting degree preferred
• Qualified SAIPA Professional Accountant, ACCA member, or AGA(SA) member preferred
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, tax compliance, VAT, payroll, and financial reporting
• Experience working with accounting software, preferably Xero
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple client deadlines
• Excellent communication and client relationship management skills
• Fluent in Afrikaans (spoken and written)
