Job summary

GAS Accounting in Sandton is seeking an experienced Account Manager to own a client portfolio and lead the team delivering bookkeeping, management accounts, financial statements and compliance. You’ll present results, offer sharp financial insight and ensure every deadline is met in a fast-paced, client-facing role in a cloud-based practice.

You will oversee tax compliance, mentor bookkeepers and trainees, and maintain accurate Xero files while leveraging Dext, Hubdoc and SimplePay to streamline

Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience in an accounting practice, managing a portfolio of clients.
• SAIPA, CIMA, AGA(SA) or CA(SA) designation.
• Must be able to lead a team.
• Experience on Xero; Sage, Dext, Hubdoc, SimplePay and Karbon advantageous.
• Strong working knowledge of South African tax and statutory compliance.
• Confident client communication and presentation skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Manage a client portfolio as the primary point of contact and hold regular results and strategy meetings
• Present management accounts and turn the numbers into clear, actionable insight
• Review and sign off bookkeeping, management accounts, financial statements and compliance submissions
• Ensure VAT201, EMP201, EMP501, provisional tax, income tax, dividends tax and CIPC compliance is accurate and on time
• Handle SARS correspondence and identify tax planning opportunities
• Prepare or review annual financial statements within statutory timeframes
• Lead, review and develop the bookkeepers, junior accountants and trainees in your portfolio
• Manage workflow and deadlines across multiple clients in Karbon
• Onboard new clients and build long-term relationships through proactive service
• Keep Xero files accurate and current, and champion our use of Dext, Hubdoc and SimplePay
