Qualifications and Compliance Requirements
- Minimum 3‑5 years relevant work experience in Short‑Term Insurance
- Personal attributes: ability to function independently and under pressure, assertiveness, continuous learning, commitment, customer‑driven, excellent communication skills, flexibility and adaptability to change, goal‑oriented, high attention to detail, honesty, integrity and ethical behaviour, results oriented, self‑starter / proactive / initiative, team player.
New Business Responsibilities
- Capture and collate client and risk details received from Sales
- Quote and underwrite with Binder Insurers in line with the Insurer Underwriting Guide and mandates
- Approach market for quotes from other Insurers
- Provide Sales with quotes from Insurers
- Ensure all FAIS documents are completed by Client and Sales
- Arrange cover with Insurer on confirmations from client / sales
- Process policy documents and raise debits where applicable
- Email new business pack to AE / Client
Renewals and Other Responsibilities
- Where applicable: print and bind new business packs for delivery to client by AE
- Renewal listing, claims experience, and ratio to be provided 6 weeks prior to renewal
- Review FAIS documents, record of advice, cover and insured details on policy
- Send renewal comparison and schedule to insurer for review and sign‑off (Personal Only)
- Obtain / negotiate terms with insurers, domestic insurer collection
- Assist AE with market exercise and complete comparison where necessary
- Confirm renewal discussion with client and AE or vice‑versa; reduce coverage to in‑writing
- Lay off cover with insurer (Personal)
- Update summary with renewal information
- Raise debits in correct financial period and send renewal to client (copying AE) or complete pack for AE delivery (Domestic and Personal)
- Domestic renewals to be prepared by renewal team, ensuring all relevant documents are attached
Amendments, Cancellations & Portfolio Management
- Discuss with relevant Underwriter / AE where applicable
- Process cover confirmation immediately and copy AE, client and insurer (Insurer: Personal only)
- Diarise outstanding information
- Process amendment directly if all information available
- Acknowledge receipt of amendment request and advise AE
- Process amendment in line with Insurer Underwriting Guide and mandates (Binder Insurers)
- Obtain terms and process amendment for other insurers; send copy to insurers (applicable to Personal only)
- Email updated schedule to client, copying AE
- Advise AE immediately on cancellations
- Send cancellations to Team Leads / Underwriting Managers for action
- Prep refund requisition for Underwriting Managers to authorise and send to finance
- Process corrective endorsement / cancellation on insurers’ advices for multi‑claimants / portfolio management or as part of renewal (rule set)
- Manage own area of control and ensure all outstanding mails / tasks are addressed before annual leave

- Maintain filing system and accurate records of new matters received in the department
