Our client, a national leader in road logistics, is seeking an Account Development Manager to join their successful team.

You will be responsible for nurturing existing client relationships and identifying new business opportunities.

The core objective is to drive organizational growth through the acquisition of new business and the expansion of service adoption among existing clients. The incumbent must demonstrate strong selling and relationship-building skills, with a proven sales track record in key logistics sectors.

Salary: R30,000 – R35 000 per month.

We are an established logistics and distribution organization specializing in serving the demanding fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) supply chain across Southern Africa. Our foundation dates back to 1999, providing over two decades of operational stability and comprehensive transportation management expertise. Our senior management team collectively contributes more than 50 years of relevant industry experience.

Our service infrastructure includes a robust nationwide network in South Africa, covering primary commercial hubs in Gauteng and Kwa-Zulu Natal, with reach into the Western, Eastern, and Northern Cape. We utilize a versatile fleet, ranging from 1 Ton to 34 Ton articulated vehicles, including specialized refrigerated, dry-freight, and high-volume (Volumax) transport options. Operations are governed by advanced technology, including a Transport Control Tower and real-time satellite tracking, ensuring route optimization, cost control, and rigorous risk management. Key Responsibilities:

The role is divided into three key areas of accountability: Business Development, Account Management, and Operational Support.

Strategic Sales and Business Development:

  • Proactively create new sales opportunities and target high-value potential clients.
  • Identify, approach, and follow up on new client leads.
  • Present to and consult with senior management on market trends to inform the development of new products, services, or pricing strategies.
  • Co‑coordinate sales bids and respond to invitations to tender as required.
  • Contribute to the promotion of the company by attending industry events and professional networking.

Account Management and Retention:

  • Sustain and grow overall revenue through consistent new business development and client retention.
  • Focus on expanding customer spend and service utilization within the company portfolio.
  • Manage and coordinate relationships with both new and existing customers, collaborating closely with operational managers.
  • Maintain a principled, professional approach in all interactions to maximize mutual benefit.

Administrative and Operational Support:

  • Generate and submit accurate monthly reports and statistics detailing achievements and prospects.
  • Ensure a thorough working knowledge of all internal computer systems utilized on site.
  • Contribute to the administration of fleet services, including:
  • Certificates of Fitness (COF’s) and vehicle checklists.
  • Tyre management, fuel, and consumption tracking.
  • Scheduling preventative maintenance.

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in sales and client retention.
  • Demonstrated Sales Experience and a proven track record.
  • Education to a university degree level or equivalent professional qualifications.
  • Knowledge of the Transport Industry and a good understanding of distribution operations.
  • IT literate (proficiency in MS Office).
  • Valid Code 8 driver’s license with access to own transport.
