Full‑Time
Administration
Accelerate is a youth development program in hospitality management or professional cookery that spans 3 years. It is aimed at South African nationals and is designed to drive increased engagement and interest in the sector. The goal is to provide practical and academic development as a foundation for a hospitality career.
A requirement to apply is a year of practical working experience in a hotel. If the experience is with a Marriott hotel the candidate is called an Orientation Trainee. The Orientation year lets the candidate assess the industry before applying for the 3‑year program. Completing the Orientation year does not guarantee acceptance; candidates must apply for the first‑year intake at the end of the year.
Here to explore and kick‑start your dream career!
During the Orientation year, Hospitality Management trainees work in all hotel departments; Professional Cookery trainees work in all sections of a hotel to gain operational insight and decide whether to apply for the 3‑year program.
Orientation Trainees must follow company policies, maintain professionalism, protect company assets, greet guests, anticipate service needs, use professional language, answer phones appropriately, develop positive relationships, comply with quality standards, perform physical tasks (lift & carry ≤5kg), stand/sit/walk for extended periods, and perform other reasonable duties.
Our 3‑year In‑Service Trainee Program immerses trainees in Marriott culture and business. Each year focuses on a different business discipline, with trainees transferred to new Marriott hotels to experience various types of properties and management styles.
Discipline exposure:
Theoretical knowledge is acquired via study‑release periods at hotel or culinary school and short courses; trainees complete a portfolio of evidence. Graduates must take up employment with the company for one year upon graduation; the company supports them in finding permanent roles.
