About the Job

As a Software Engineer in AWS Savings Plans Optimization, you'll own the design and development of the core engine behind BLOCKS' AI agent “Major Tom.”

You’ll build algorithms for cost optimization, risk assessment, and commitment strategies, while shaping the infrastructure that processes millions in cloud spend data.

As one of the company's first engineers, you'll work directly with AWS billing systems and real-time data pipelines to deliver reliable, automated savings at scale.

What You'll Do
  • Design and implement the Savings Plans optimization engine powering BLOCKS' AI agent.
  • Develop algorithms for commitment strategies, risk assessment, and utilization forecasting.
  • Build robust data pipelines to process AWS billing and usage data in real time.
  • Create automated decision engines for Reserved Instance and Savings Plans management.
  • Design monitoring and anomaly detection systems to ensure consistent, profitable savings outcomes.
  • Collaborate in a fast-paced, AI-driven engineering culture where small teams ship fast and iterate even faster.
What You Bring
  • Deep expertise in AWS Savings Plans: Compute & EC2 Instance Savings Plans, commitment strategies, term optimization, and risk management.
  • AWS billing systems mastery: Cost Explorer API, Cost and Usage Reports (CUR), Billing APIs, CloudWatch cost metrics.
  • Advanced cost modeling skills: Usage pattern analysis, utilization forecasting, break-even calculations, discount rate optimization.
  • Reserved Instance optimization experience: RI marketplace operations, instance family flexibility, modification and exchange strategies.
  • Strong background in financial risk assessment: Over-commitment protection, workload volatility analysis, and portfolio balancing.
  • Proven experience (3+ years) at top cloud optimization companies (e.g., ProsperOps, Archera, nOps) with direct Savings Plans ownership.
  • Hands‑on production experience with automated billing systems, anomaly detection, and high‑stakes financial automation.
  • A true builder mindset—comfortable with end‑to‑end ownership, direct feedback, and fast‑paced execution.
