Job summary

Electrum Payments is a next-generation payment software company in Cape Town offering 4-week paid internships conducted in-office, with potential for permanent positions depending on company needs and fit.

The 2027 Summer Internship will run for 4 weeks from 11th January 2027 to the 5th February 2027. As part of the team, you will be involved in the full project life cycle, receive training, mentorship, and work on real customer problems within a FinTech environment.

Qualifications

• University student in 3rd year or Honours, in Computer Science, Engineering, Maths, or Physics.
• Average ≥65% across modules.
• Experience with Java at university or personal projects.
• Fundamentals of object‑oriented programming.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

The Electrum Internship Program:

We run two four-week internship programs annually during the summer (January) and winter (June/July) university breaks. Internships are paid and conducted in-office, with potential for permanent positions depending on company needs and fit.

• University Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Maths, or Physics student in either their 3rd year or Honours year.
• A minimum average of 65% in all modules.
• Experience working with Java at university or from personal projects.
• Understanding fundamentals of object-oriented programming.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
