Direct Reporting Line: Head of Computer Sciences

Emeris consolidates resources and expertise from IIE Varsity College, IIE MSA, IIE-Vega School, and IIE School of Hospitality & Service Management, with a unified approach ensuring a consistent standard of excellence in teaching, learning, and student support.

Emeris Ruimsig has a vacancy for Part‑Time Lecturers Faculty of Information Technology available for the 2026 Academic year.

Key Performance Areas
Lecturing
  • Lecturers on programmes (preferably lecturing in the IIE qualification) across various modes of delivery where relevant.
  • Marking of assessments and give students timeous feedback.
  • The lecturer is required to internally moderate assessment scripts that fall within their subject fields across the IIE sites of delivery.
  • Provide lecturer development and support according to processes and procedures, and this may include conducting peer reviews, facilitating workshops and providing one‑on‑one consultations.
Student Development & Support
  • Championing/leading and managing the academic development and support for a specific programme and its students.
  • Tracking student success and implementing support interventions where is required.
  • The successful candidate is required to promote a culture of scholarship within their practice, discipline team and contribute towards the campus (Emeris Ruimsig) in achieving its annual research output targets.
Competencies required
  • Superior communication (written and verbal) and organisational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage work and self proactively.
  • Able to demonstrate a proven track record of effective teaching in subject area based on a reflective practice.
  • The ability to manage relationships with managers and staff effectively based on motivation, quality and performance.
  • Passion for providing customer service.
  • Experience in the use of technology to enhance learning, is an added advantage.
  • Masters in Information Technology or Computer Science, and any related field (NQF level 9) preferable.
Minimum Work Experience Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years in Teaching and Learning experience (preferably in the teaching environment).
  • Lecturing experience in programming.
  • Experience as a software developer/ application developer/ mobile programmer, in one or more of the following technologies:
  • NET (C#, .NET Core, ASP.net MVC, Blazor, UWP).
  • JavaScript (React, Angular, etc).
  • Opensource (Kotlin).
  • Mobile Application Development (Android/iOS).
  • Mobile App Scripting.
Working Conditions
  • Please note that this is an independent contractor position.
  • Lectures take place between 08:00 – 17:00 during weekdays.
  • Classes are conducted face‑to‑face on campus.
