Overview

Nova Pioneer is looking for an experienced English and Mathematics Teacher to teach at our Ruimsig Primary School. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic teacher to empower students using an enquiry-based learning approach and to be part of an innovative network of schools developing generations of innovators and leaders who will shape the African Century.

Responsibilities

Teachers lead instruction and planning for subject- or grade-level classrooms and are responsible for driving a rigorous, enquiry-based learning environment the Nova Pioneer way.

Key responsibilities:

  • Work closely with learning designers to design impactful lessons
  • Design and deliver engaging enquiry-based lessons supported by technology
  • Observe, coach and model for Apprentice Teachers
  • Infuse joy and passion for learning to engage students in academic excellence
  • Set rigorous goals for all students and provide feedback for improvement
  • Assess student progress and use data to adjust instructional content and delivery
  • Attend weekly feedback meetings with Deans and learning designers
  • Participate in professional growth opportunities including daily team meetings, weekly PD, coaching, and cross‑school learning
  • Communicate with parents via email, phone, and parent‑teacher conferences
  • Contribute to co‑curricular programming for at least one activity per term
  • Participate in collaborative teams and committees and fulfill supervision duties as assigned (some morning, evening, and weekend events)
Qualifications

Skills and Qualifications required:

  • Completed Bachelor’s degree in Education (B.Ed) or Bachelor’s Degree + Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) – Intermediate Phase
  • SACE registered (provide registration number and certificate in application)
  • Classroom experience teaching English – Intermediate Phase
  • Classroom experience teaching Mathematics – Intermediate Phase
  • Experience with or understanding of Cambridge curriculum objectives is advantageous
  • Ability to lead a classroom independently, with practical teaching experience
