Job summary

Woodland Park Zoo is seeking a Zoomazium Instructor to deliver age-appropriate curriculum and engaging programs for children and families. This role emphasizes outstanding guest service, collaboration with multiple departments, and maintaining a welcoming, safe Zoomazium environment.

The position averages 18 hours per week with shifts 9:00 am–3:30 pm Monday–Friday and various weekend/holiday hours. Onsite work in Seattle, WA, with non-represented status and regular casual staffing advantages.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of education and/or experience in early childhood, natural science, or environmental education.
  • Crowd control, group management, and basic customer service.
  • Basic computer, communication, and mathematics skills.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old and live in Washington State.

Responsibilities

  • Support visitors to ensure a positive zoo experience.
  • Support Zoomazium operations and public programming.
  • Maintain an environment aimed at the safety and well-being of Zoomazium guests, following all safety protocols.
  • Present creative, mission-driven programming.
  • Facilitate day-to-day operations for Zoomazium including opening and closing procedures and responding to incidents.

SALARY & FLSA: $22.50 per hour; FLSA non-exempt

This position will average 18 hours per week; shifts are anticipated to go from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday to Friday, and 9:00 am to 2:00 pm or 10:30 am to 3:30 pm on Saturday and Sunday. Weekend and holiday availability is required.

You enjoy working as part of a diverse team. You treat everyone with respect and are comfortable adapting your communication based on the audience and always communicate inclusively.

  • Are A Strong Multi-tasker: You are comfortable managing multiple tasks and projects with high energy. You love to use your creative problem skills and are flexible when changes arise.
