Job summary

The Saint Louis Zoo’s intensive three-year clinical residency in zoological medicine provides mentorship and training to become a Board Certified Specialist through ACZM, with exposure to three campuses and teaching opportunities.

Starting August 2027, residents will gain hands-on experience in clinical medicine, anesthesia, preventive care, surgery, pathology, and professional development, while aligning with the Zoo’s mission and core values.

Qualifications

• Candidates must have a DVM (or equivalent) and be able to practice veterinary medicine in the United States.
• Must obtain Missouri Veterinary License and USDA accreditation within six months.
• Must be eligible for DEA registration and BNDD registration.
• Structured post-graduate training or 2 years experience as a veterinarian.

Responsibilities

• Assist in care and preventive medicine programs for a diverse collection with supervision from ACZM Diplomates.
• Engage in scholarly activity, publish peer-reviewed manuscripts, and meet ACZM credentialing guidelines.
