Job summary

Nashville Zoo is seeking a Maintenance Technician to inspect, maintain, troubleshoot and repair facilities and animal habitats. You will handle carpentry, drywall, plumbing, electrical work and basic HVAC, ensuring safety and efficiency across buildings and grounds.

Responsibilities include coordinating with contractors, supporting events, and inputting work orders while adhering to zoo policies. High school diploma or GED and at least one year of maintenance experience required.

Qualifications

  • Three years of facilities or maintenance experience preferred.
  • Operate power tools, machinery and safety equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, analyze and repair electrical, plumbing and carpentry.
  • Dexterity to use multiple power tools safely.
  • Work outdoors in various weather conditions; capable of heights.
  • Basic computer/typing skills and ability to work flexible hours.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, perform preventative maintenance and repairs for buildings and habitats.
  • Operate tools and equipment, including power tools and basic HVAC tasks.
  • Assist other departments with maintenance projects and events.
  • Maintain animal habitats following safety rules and protocols.
  • Coordinate with contractors and volunteers on projects.
  • Input work orders into computer systems and track progress.
