Job summary

Fresno Chaffee Zoo Corporation is seeking an Education Program Manager to lead a passionate team of educators and deliver innovative experiences for learners of all ages. You will plan, coordinate, and evaluate education initiatives to advance the zoo’s mission and engage diverse audiences.

This role requires a bachelor’s degree in education or a related field, 3+ years of teaching/education experience, 2+ years of large-team leadership, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education, Animal Science, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years experience in formal classroom teaching, informal education, experiential education, and/or public speaking.
• Minimum 2 years experience managing a large team of 50 people.
• Minimum 2 years experience with Microsoft Office suite.
• Strong verbal and written English communications skills; bilingual a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead Education Programs staff and daily operations for pre-K through 12th grade, family, and adult audiences.
• Design, develop, implement, and evaluate educational programs aligned with school standards and conservation science.
• Serve as Camp Director as needed.
• Manage school partnership programs including budgets and capacity in collaboration with the Director of Learning.
• Ensure expenditures follow budget and payments are tracked.
• Develop and implement schedules for educational programs.
• Ensure staff/volunteers are equipped with accurate knowledge of Zoo collections and programs.
• Provide leadership and vision for the Education department; coordinate with other managers as needed.
• Act as Incident Coordinator during on-ground emergencies; operate vehicle for business purposes.
