Job summary

Steel Tool & Engineering is seeking a detail-oriented Zone Inspector in Trenton, MI. The role involves performing inspections on the production floor, reading blueprints, and ensuring GD&T conformance to customer requirements.

You will verify products meet specifications, assist with calibration, and support gage management while contributing to continuous improvement and teamwork with Quality Engineers and Team Leads.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Experience in manufacturing, inspection, or quality is preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of GD&T is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections throughout the production floor.
• Verify products meet customer and engineering requirements.
• Identify and contain quality issues before parts move to the next operation.
• Conduct process and product audits.
• Assist with calibration and gage management activities.
• Train and support employees on proper gage usage.
• Work with Team Leads and Quality Engineers to resolve quality concerns.
• Support continuous improvement efforts that enhance product quality.

$20.25 - $25.00/hr (Based on Experience)

What You'll Do

• Perform inspections throughout the production floor

What We're Looking For

• High School Diploma or GED
• Manufacturing, inspection, or quality experience preferred
• Experience using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring equipment
• Ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings
• Knowledge of GD&T required
• Strong attention to detail
• Good communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
• Ability to perform detailed visual inspections in a manufacturing environment
