Job summary

A leading IT services company seeks a professional with solid mainframe experience to navigate and monitor database activities. Ideal candidates should have knowledge of IBM Guardium and be able to act as a liaison among mainframe, databases, Linux, and security tooling. You will work within a mainframe environment, ensuring effective data extraction and monitoring. Familiarity with z/OS and database event logging is crucial to support the cyber team's efforts.

Core Skill Requirements

• The most critical requirement is solid mainframe experience. Candidates must be comfortable navigating and working within a mainframe environment.
• Exposure to database activity monitoring is important, specifically concepts around database logging or event monitoring.
• IBM Guardium expertise is preferred. A candidate does not need to be a Guardium SME, as long as they have the foundational background to learn it.
• A candidate who is strong in Guardium but has no mainframe experience will not be a fit.
• The role requires understanding how the z/OS Guardium agent extracts database activity (DB2, IMS, etc.) and how the Linux-based Guardium collector receives, processes, and forwards that data to the cyber team.
• The ideal candidate can act as a liaison, effectively “speaking multiple languages” across mainframe, databases, Linux, and security tooling.

• A z/OS systems programmer with experience installing software and exposure to database logging.
