Job description

The YouTube Content Creator is a creative video storyteller and hands-on videographer and editor who owns Hello Seven's YouTube presence end to end: concept, shoot, edit, upload, optimization, and analytics. They know the platform inside out and are obsessed with how to win on it.

This person turns Rachel's talks, events, client stories, creative shoots they plan out, and our archive of footage into compelling long-form videos and Shorts that grow the channel and promote Hello Seven's programs and value. They shoot with their own equipment, edit with strong storytelling instincts, and use Claude and other AI tools to move faster and produce more without dropping quality. They are always pushing the creative bar for what we can make on the platform while staying efficient with time and output.

Reporting to the Creative Director, they pitch ideas, brainstorm, and execute quickly, and they're happy to travel for shoots at in-person events and Rachel's speaking engagements. This is a full-time, in-house role for a creative who wants to pour their creativity into video storytelling and own a channel from beginning to end.

Success in this role looks like a channel that's growing, a steady stream of high-quality video and Shorts shipped efficiently, leads joining our list and taking action on our CTAs, our archive continuously mined into fresh content, and client stories and program value told in a way that pulls people in.

Responsibilities

YouTube Platform Ownership & Growth

  • Own the YouTube channel end to end: strategy, publishing, optimization, and growth.
  • Know the platform inside out and stay current on every change to formats, features, and the algorithm.
  • Maximize reach, watch time, and subscriber growth through titles, thumbnails, descriptions, tags, chapters, end screens, cards, playlists, and search optimization.
  • Keep up with YouTube trends and formats, long-form and Shorts, and translate them into content that fits the brand.
  • Research competitors and creators in our niche, tracking trending formats and topics to inform what we make.
  • Maintain metadata templates and a consistent upload pipeline so every video ships correctly packaged.

Video Creation & Editing (Concept to Publish)

  • Edit and structure YouTube videos and Shorts from concept to final cut: story, pacing, hooks, retention, and polish.
  • Edit for retention: aggressive pacing with J-cuts, B-roll, sound design, and graphics.
  • Shoot original video content as the on-set videographer, using your own professional equipment.
  • Handle in-house studio gear, lighting, audio leveling, and framing on every shoot.
  • Build new videos from the archive: repurpose existing footage, and compile voiceovers from newer talks or videos over older footage to create fresh content.
  • Own the full production pipeline: concept, script and outline, shoot, edit, thumbnail, upload, optimize, publish.
  • Design high-contrast, readable, high-CTR thumbnails (Photoshop or similar), and add captions and subtitles for reach and accessibility.

Creative Direction & Storytelling

  • Continuously push the creative bar for what's possible on the platform.
  • Pitch creative video ideas that promote Hello Seven's programs, services, and value, and that tell client success stories.
  • Develop video concepts, series, and formats that build audience and recognition over time.
  • Write organic, natural-sounding scripts and outlines for content filmed with Rachel, in her voice.

AI-Powered Editing & Output

  • Use Claude and other AI tools to speed up editing, ideation, scripting, and repurposing, and to increase output without sacrificing quality.
  • Stay current on AI video and editing tools and continuously improve the production workflow.

Analytics & Optimization

  • Track and study YouTube analytics such as views, watch time, retention, CTR, subscriber growth, and traffic sources, to understand what's working.
  • Use the data to decide what to make more of, and to keep improving titles, thumbnails, hooks, and formats.
  • A/B test thumbnails and titles to maximize click-through rate.
  • Study audience-retention graphs to find and cut low-retention segments and sharpen future edits.
  • Report on channel performance and growth to the Creative Director.

Production Logistics, Equipment & Travel

  • Travel for video shoots: in-person events, speaking engagements, and productions.
  • Own, maintain, and bring your own video equipment; capture high-quality footage on location.
  • Keep an organized library of raw footage, projects, and finished assets.
  • Manage music and asset licensing and stay compliant with copyright to protect the channel from strikes.

Community & Collaboration

  • Engage the YouTube community, comments and audience feedback, in the brand voice.
  • Build community with the Community Tab, polls, and pinned comments.
  • Collaborate closely with the Social Media Manager, feeding them Shorts, clips, and ideas they can repurpose across platforms, and brainstorm and execute ideas quickly with the wider team.
  • Maximize the monthly content captured within programs, client stories, and Rachel's visibility as source material.

Results

  • The YouTube channel grows steadily in subscribers, views, watch time, and reach.
  • Videos and Shorts ship efficiently and consistently, on brand and at a high creative bar.
  • The archive and existing footage are continuously turned into fresh, valuable content.
  • Client stories and program value are told compellingly on the platform.
  • Analytics are tracked and actively drive what gets made next.
  • Content filmed with Rachel sounds natural and performs.
  • Footage from events and engagements is captured and turned into content.
  • AI is used to meaningfully increase output and editing speed while quality stays high.

Requirements

Experience

  • Proven experience creating and editing YouTube content that grew a channel (portfolio and channel examples expected).
  • Hands-on videography and video editing experience across long-form and Shorts.
  • Experience owning a YouTube channel's optimization and analytics.
  • Experience using AI tools in an editing and production workflow is a strong plus.

Skills

  • Expert video editor (e.g., Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut) with strong storytelling and pacing instincts.
  • Deep, current YouTube platform expertise: algorithm, SEO, formats, Shorts, thumbnails, and retention.
  • Strong videography skills, and owns professional video equipment.
  • Skilled with Claude and AI tools for editing, scripting, and repurposing.
  • Copywriting for scripts, titles, and descriptions; can write natural scripts in Rachel's voice.
  • Basic thumbnail design, motion graphics, and captioning.
  • Comfortable with studio lighting, audio leveling, and thumbnail design in Photoshop or similar.
  • Analytical, and reads YouTube data and turns it into decisions.

Abilities

  • Takes a video from idea to published, optimized asset independently.
  • Pushes creative boundaries while working efficiently with time and output.
  • Repurposes archive footage and voiceovers into new content.
  • Travels and shoots on location.

Knowledge

  • YouTube algorithm, SEO, and best practices, kept current.
  • Video storytelling, hooks, retention, and editing craft.
  • Music and asset licensing and copyright compliance.
  • Brand voice and visual identity.

Qualities

  • A creative obsessed with video storytelling and with winning on YouTube.
  • Self-driven, efficient, and prolific.
  • Curious and proactive with AI.
  • Open to feedback and eager to pitch bold ideas.
